Engineering Level 1/2 Vocational Award

Course Overview

The Vocational Award in Engineering will develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the engineering sector and provide them with opportunities to develop associated practical skills.  It covers manufacturing engineering products, designing engineering products and solving engineering problems which focuses on how modern engineering has had an impact on modern day life at home, work and in society in general.

Learners will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in using a range of engineering tools and equipment to produce and test and end product

Designing Engineering Products

Offers learners the opportunity to apply their knowledge and understanding to adapt an existing component, element or part of the engineering outcome that they produced for Unit 1.

40 marks – 20%

 

Unit 3

Written examination

1.5 hours

Solving Engineering Problems

Questions requiring objective responses, short and extended answers, based around applied situations.  Learners will be required to use stimulus material to respond to questions

80 marks – 40%
