Student Leadership

We recognise the importance in providing leadership opportunities for students at all stages of their journey at Bullers Wood School for Boys.

Bullers Wood School for Boys Year 11 Student Leadership Team is comprised of:

Two Head Boys

Two Deputy Head Boys

Six House Captains

Six Vice House Captains

Nine Prefects

Head Boys and Deputy Head Boys

The Head Boys and Deputy Head Boys regularly present in whole school assemblies, year group assemblies and school events, such as Open Evenings. They also play a key part in hosting Inter-House competitions.

House Captains and Vice Captains

House Captains and Vice Captains present in whole school assemblies and lead their teams in Inter-House competitions. They also accept awards on behalf of their House.

Inter-House competitions are run termly by the Year 11 Student Leadership team, based on a variety of academic, creative and sporting themes. All students are encouraged to participate, have fun, support each other and represent their House.

Prefects

In Year 10, we recruit our school prefects including Head Boys and House Captains. These students play a critical role in supporting the every day running of the school including supporting staff at break and lunchtimes, running events, representing the school and assisting younger students.

Form Roles

In years 7 to 10, students have the opportunity to take on the following leadership roles within their form:

A form captain is elected to assist the form tutor, represent their House in assemblies and accept awards on behalf of their form.

A sports captain is elected to keep their form informed of sporting activities and opportunities within school, as well as coordinating the team for our annual sports day.

A school council representative is elected to attend school council meetings, presenting the suggestions and ideas of their form group.

Student Council

Prefects, as well as the other Student Leaders mentioned above, are ambassadors for the school at events, such as open evenings. They also spend thirty minutes per week running form time for year 7 and year 8 students, and an additional thirty minutes per week mentoring younger students on a one-to-one basis. They have a strong visible presence around school at break and lunch times, encouraging students to make good choices.

EDI reps

Each form group can nominate a student to be an equality, diversity and inclusion rep. These students meet with our staff EDI lead to discuss matters relating to inclusion and provide student voice in this area.

Library ambassadors

Library ambassadors support our school librarian with the running and organisation of the library, including the sourcing of new books and the running of clubs.
