Learning for life
What students learn this year:
In Year 10 each lesson runs across two form times, allowing deeper discussion. Students begin with independence and health choices – effective revision, healthy lifestyles, sleep, self-examination, vaccination and the risks of aesthetic procedures. A dedicated unit on artificial intelligence explores how AI shapes daily life, chatbots and relationships, and the harm caused by deepfakes. In the spring students learn to recognise and challenge prejudice and discrimination and understand how people are drawn into extremism, then examine social and financial influence online. Summer covers consent, intimacy, pornography, coercion and conflict in relationships, before a careers unit prepares students for work experience.
The year delivers the statutory RSHE content on intimate relationships, consent, pornography and online harms, and on health services and self-care. Units on prejudice, discrimination and extremism support the Prevent duty, British values and the Equality Act 2010. The AI and financial-exploitation units respond to emerging national priorities around digital literacy and online safety, and the work-experience unit meets Gatsby Benchmarks on encounters with employers and experiences of workplaces.
