Head Teachers Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to Bullers Wood School for Boys, an exciting, new, non-selective secondary school for Bromley.

We plan to open in September 2018 providing 180 places for boys living in the local area. Over the next five years we will grow to accommodate 900 boys from Years 7 – 11. Our ambition is for the vast majority of our boys to progress on to Bullers Wood Sixth Form by the end of Year 11.

Our mission is to ensure that every boy achieves and enjoys success within a culture of high aspiration and traditional values of courtesy and respect. We will provide a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment, taught by teachers that are passionate and able to convey their knowledge effectively and with enthusiasm. Our enrichment and extra-curricular provision will be extensive. We will actively seek out opportunities for each boy to find his niche.

We will provide an academic curriculum with an emphasis on the EBacc suite of subjects (English, maths, sciences, humanities, languages), and sport. We believe that qualifications in these subjects will be essential for our boys to progress successfully onto the next stage of their careers. Our curriculum will also be responsive to the needs of individuals providing a personalised approach when and where necessary.

All of this will be underpinned by a strong and caring pastoral team which will ensure that each boy is happy, cared for and known by staff, allowing them to develop into well-rounded and successful young men.

At present, we are being guided by the Department for Education and the Educational Funding Agency about our proposed school site on land that we own. In the first instance, we are likely to open in temporary accommodation. We believe that a school is not just about bricks and mortar, it is about having the right people who will have the boys at the heart of everything they do.

After meeting us, I hope you will want to share and be part of our vision. I look forward to working in partnership with you to achieve it.
